Toolchest

As part of building up my tools for my workshop, I knew I needed a new toolchest.  It wouldn’t really be for woodworking tools, but for things like screwdrivers, wrenches, plyers, etc.  I looked at the local bigbox store but they all seemed quite expensive for what amounted to a box with drawers.  Much easier instead to build one.  I found some designs online that I liked, and took a stab at designing it in Sketchup.

It was a very basic design.  Carcase is simple 3/4″ plywood screwed together, with dados cut in the sides for the drawers.  The drawers are also 3/4″ plywood (screwed) with 1/4″ plywood bottom that is oversized to slip into the dados.  Its not full extension of course, but really doesn’t need to be.  One drawer is double sized to accomdate larger tools.

This was a quick and dirty tool chest and it worked great.
